ANNA “LURAY” JONES

Anna “Luray” Jones, age 70, of Cambridge, MD, died Wednesday morning, June 11, 2008 at Dorchester General Hospital.

Born on August 22, 1937 in Cambridge, MD she was the daughter of the late Ruth Virginia Mae Hughes-Hill.

Luray was a graduate of Cambridge High School, Class of 1956.

She was known as “Granny” and “Mom Mom” to her family and many children in Cambridge.

On August 23, 1958 she married Theodore Mortimore “Buddy” Jones, Sr. He died on October 31, 1980.

Mrs. Jones was a Home League member of the Salvation Army Church.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and being with her family and friends.

Surviving are eight children Christine Young of Preston, MD, Stephen B. Jones of Rock Hall, MD, Peggy A. Jones of Preston, MD, Ruth Jones, Theodore M. Jones, Jr., Lillian Mae Parks, Aleta Luray Jones, Jonathan C. Jones, all of Cambridge, MD; a sister Darlene Patrick of Lenoir, NC; a brother Frederick Hughes and his wife Helen of East New Market, MD; fourteen grandchildren James Koole, Jr., Michael Koole, Mindy Greenhawk, Lucas Jones, Robert Jones, Adam Jones, Jonathan C. Jones, Jr., John Hurley, Jr., Angel Leonard, Justin Parks, Zachary Jones, Stephen Jones, Jr., Alexis Jones and Susan Lane; sixteen great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and three expecting great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death besides her mother and husband was a daughter Linda Jones; and three brothers Ronald E. Hughes, Donald E. Hughes and John R. Hughes.

Funeral services will be held at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. on Friday, June 13, 2008 at 1:00 p.m., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be Captain Stephen Story. Burial will follow at East New Market Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Greenhawk, Jonathan Jones, Sr., Theodore Jones, Jr., Adam Jones, John Hurley, Jr., and Robert Jones.

Memorial offerings may be made in Mrs. Jones’ memory to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., 2600 Network Blvd., Suite 300, Frisco, TX 75034.
