BETTY LECOMPTE
Betty Pritchett LeCompte, age 76, of Church Creek, MD, died at her home, Sunday, May 18, 2008.
Born on September 10, 1931 in Crocheron, Dorchester County, MD, she was the daughter of the late James Morgan Pritchett and Rhodella Helen Bramble.
On March 17, 1961 she married Otis Carroll LeCompte, Jr. He died on September 23, 1984.
Her home church was Bethany United Methodist Church.
She worked for thirty years as a telephone operator with C&P Telephone Company in the Cambridge, Easton and Salisbury offices. Mrs. LeCompte was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was also an Avon representative for several years and had been a top seller. Her hobbies included antiques and bus trips. Mrs. LeCompte’s greatest enjoyment was being with her family and especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. LeCompte was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 91, VFW Post 7460 and the Ladies of the Moose, Lodge 1211.
Surviving are five children Brenda Kimmey of Hurlock, MD, Wanda Tolley and her husband Andrew of Woolford, MD, William K. “Billy” Lewis of Church Creek, MD, Jody L. LeCompte and his wife Melissa of Church Creek, MD, Christopher C. LeCompte and his wife Lisa of Hurlock, MD; and step-son Otis C. “Butch” LeCompte III of Clayton, Alabama; step-daughter Candace Shekleton of Waldorf, MD; eight grandchildren Heather Abbott and her husband Shane, Ashley Kimmey, Mila Tolley, Jessica LeCompte, Jenna LeCompte and Jordan LeCompte, Christopher LeCompte and Hannah LeCompte; a brother Wallace Pritchett of Crocheron, MD; a nephew Jamie Pritchett.
Mrs. LeCompte is also preceded in death by an infant son Anthony Otis LeCompte; grandson Drew Tolley; son-in-law Thomas Kimmey; sister-in-law Jeanette Pritchett.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, May 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 21st at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with The Rev. David Stewart officiating at the service. Burial will follow at The Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, MD.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Shane Abbott, Jamie Pritchett, Andrew Tolley, Billy Lewis, Jody LeCompte and Chris LeCompte.
