Dora Pearl Pritchett Murphy, age 90, of Toddville, MD, died on Saturday afternoon, March 21, 2009 at Dorchester General Hospital.

Born on April 7, 1918 in Toddville, Dorchester County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Hilliary Vincent Pritchett and Areita Blithe Meredith Pritchett.

On January 22, 1940 she married Lois Winfield Murphy. He died on October 8, 1987.

Mrs. Murphy was a life-long, devoted member of St. Thomas United Methodist Church, Toddville, MD.

Mrs. Murphy was a crab picker for all of her working life. She had worked for Dorchester Crab Company and even picked up to November of last year.

Mrs. Murphy was known and respected for her good outlook on life. She took pride in her home where she enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. She loved her family and cherished times with friends over lunch and car rides. She enjoyed flowers and bird watching.

Surviving is a daughter Lois Henry of Linkwood, MD; a son Allan Vincent Murphy of Fowlerville, MI; a sister Amy Loraine Phillips of Cambridge, MD; a brother Edward Roosevelt Pritchett of Hollywood, FL; six grandchildren Robert Lee Henry and his wife Kim of Laurel, DE, Alan Scott Henry and his wife Stephanie of East New Market, MD, Michael Gene Henry and his wife Melissa of East New Market, MD, Lisa Lou Murphy, Stephen David Murphy, and Julie Ann Evens and her husband Matt of Howell, MI; ten great-grandchildren Taylor Scott Henry, Lauren Ashley Henry, Kaitlyn Marie Henry, Alaina Catherine Henry, Tori Leigh Henry, John Michael Henry, Trey Robert Henry, Ryan Everett Henry, James Mathew Evens and Samantha Irene Evens; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was her son-in-law Alva Lee Henry; sister Julia Louise Bramble; two brothers-in-law Philip L. Bramble and Amos Phillips; and a niece Karen Murphy.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, March 23rd at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, March 24th at the funeral home. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. David L. Kreek. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Robert Henry, Scott Henry, Michael Henry, Taylor Henry, Gary Shockley and Charles Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers will be William Cox, Donald Mills, Reg Todd, Ray Thoman, Zach Seaman and Allen Elzey.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Mrs. Murphy’s memory to St. Thomas United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Phyllis Mills, 1877 Crocheron Rd., Toddville, MD 21672.
