Dorothea Pritchett

Dorothea Bradford Creighton Pritchett, age 85, of Cambridge, MD, formerly of Bishops Head, MD, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Dorchester General Hospital.

Born on November 18, 1923 in Crapo, MD, she was the daughter of the late Major Bradford and Theodosia Pritchett Bradford.

She attended the schools in the South Dorchester area including Crapo High School.

On September 21, 1963 she married Clyde O. Pritchett. He died on September 12, 1990.

Mrs. Pritchett was a member of the Wingate United Methodist Church, Wingate, MD.

Her hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles, and embroidery.

Mrs. Pritchett had worked for English’s Restaurant for a few years and Airpax, where she retired after twenty seven years of employment.

Surviving are three children from a previous marriage from the union of Thurman Howard Creighton, Effie Mae Elzey, Dorchester County Commissioner, and her husband Levin of Cambridge, MD, Howard Creighton and his wife Ovetta of Cambridge, MD, Linda Insley and her husband Robert of Lakesville, MD; a step-son Clarence Pritchett of Bishops Head, MD, a sister Clara Stokes of Centreville, MD, six grandchildren Jeff Insley and his wife Debbie, Erica Insley, Levin Elzey and his wife Kathy, Mark Elzey and his wife Alicia, Wally Creighton and his wife Christy, Jason Creighton and his wife Lenee; step-granddaughter Deborah Pritchett Hayward and her companion Mike Dawson; six great-grandchildren Chad Insley, Dakotah Insley, Taylor Creighton, Kyle Elzey, Kristen Elzey and Austin Elzey; two step-great-grandchildren Chuckie Hayward and his wife Nicole Douglas and Pam Hayward; two step-great-great-grandchildren Aiden and Alexis Hayward.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was a brother Neily Bradford; and two sisters Patsy Bradford and Margaret Greer; three half-brothers Kenneth Bradford, Lawrence Bradford, and Ray Bradford; a sister-in-law Gertie Bradford; a step-daughter-in-law Nina Pritchett; and a step-grandson Clarence Kevin Pritchett.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11th at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. David L. Kreek. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Levin Elzey, Mark Elzey, Wally Creighton, Jason Creighton, Jeff Insley and Chuckie Hayward.

Expressions of sympathy may be made by sending memorial offerings in Mrs. Pritchett’s memory to Wingate U.M. Church, c/o Oslyee Lewis, 2116 Wingate-Bishops Head Rd., Wingate, MD 21675.
