Joseph Mennit, Sr

Joseph "Joey" John Mennit, Sr., 41, of Hurlock, Maryland passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his home.

Born in Salisbury, Maryland on December 8, 1975, he was a son of Carol Lawrence and Michael Mennit.

Joey attended the local schools and graduated from high school with honors and then went on to gain his bachelor’s degree.

On April 26, 2014 Joey and the former Amy Gullion were united in marriage.

Joey was last employed as a carpenter and was a very good one at that. He was a member of the Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church in Easton.

Going fishing with his father and son was a highlight in Joey's life, also, cooking with Dakota, introducing Mia to music, having heart to heart talks with Catherine and most of all, being the proudest and loudest father on the sidelines at his children's sport games.

He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and never missed watching a game. Joey’s heart was in the state of Tennessee as that was his favorite place to vacation and his hope was one day to retire there.

Joey loved his family and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving him besides his parents and wife are children Catherine Ann, Mia Marie, Dakota Irene and Joseph John Mennit, Jr.; sisters Heather Sanchez-Mennit, Tracey Smith, Jennifer Wieland; brother, Scott Smith; step-mother Judy Mennit and best friend who he considered a brother, Shane Gift.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 beginning 12 noon at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge with Pastor Greg Powell officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Mennit Children's Fund, c/o Provident State Bank, 301 Crusader Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.

S. Lee Hello, I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I am sure simple words cannot eliminate the sorrow you feel, but I just wanted to share a passage with you which I hope will give you some comfort. A hope promised in the Bible is: The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life. (John 5:28, 29) I hope that seeing the promise for yourself, and making this resurrection hope your very own, can give you some genuine comfort during this difficult time. Thank you for reading my message. 05/25/2017 Betty Tilson Mike, Carol, Heather and rest of family. I am so sorry for your loss. Wendy and I are heartbroken. We knew Joe when he was just a boy. May God be with you all. Betty and Wendy 05/22/2017 George Ragusa Please accept my condolences for the loss of your loved one. At difficult times like this we realize how precious and fragile life can surely be (James 4:14). As your family and friends comfort one another, as a neighbor please also be comforted by the sure hope the Bible gives us for all those who have died (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4). As recorded in the Bible, Jesus promised that one day he was going to bring back to life all those who have died (John 5:28, 29). That is why he encourages all of us to exercise faith in that promise, the life that Jesus gave in our behalf, and be blessed as we see that promise fulfilled (John 11:25; 3:16). The Bible makes it clear that death is an "enemy" not only to mankind, but also to Almighty God (1 Corinthians 15:26). That is also why God promises to remove forever all the pain, suffering, wickedness, and death that mankind has had to endure for thousands of years (Revelation 21:3-5; Psalm 37:10,11,29). At that time soon, as the Bible indicates, both the living and the dead who are brought back to life will enjoy life, everlasting life, as God originally purposed for this earth thousands of years ago in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 1:28; Jeremiah 29:11). What a glorious day that will be for mankind who are doing what God asks of us, namely that we simply do His Will, not our own (1 John 2:17; 5:3; Proverbs 3:5,6). Please read and meditate on all these scriptures in your Bible and be comforted and blessed (Psalm 1:1-3; John 17:3). Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. 05/20/2017 Sue Purcell So sorry to hear about Joseph John. Love and prayers are being sent your way. 05/18/2017
