Norma Mae Fluharty, age 78, of Easton, MD, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at The Pines, Easton, MD.

Born on May 1, 1930 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late John Emory Roberson and Rena L. Gingel Roberson.

When she was much younger, her family moved to Church Creek, Dorchester County, MD. Norma was a graduate of Cambridge High School. On November 7, 1958 she married Wilmer Donaldson Fluharty. Everyone affectionately knows him as “Don”.

Mrs. Fluharty was a devoted member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Easton.
Her hobbies included reading, roller skating and ballroom dancing. She enjoyed getting together with her fellow former secretary friends for lunch. She was an animal lover.

For most of Norma’s working career, she worked as a medical secretary at the Eastern Shore State Hospital Center, and completed her career with the Talbot County Health Department.

Surviving is her husband of fifty years, Don Fluharty of Easton, MD; a nephew Jim Daffin and his wife Diane also of Easton, MD; a niece Karen Sears and her husband Ray of Annapolis, MD; and a sister-in-law Rosalie Dolan and her husband Tom of East New Market, MD.

Preceding her in death besides her parents was a brother Emory Straughn Roberson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 100 Peach Blossom Lane, Easton, MD. on Thurday, March 19 at 11:00 AM. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Gary Moore, Pastor. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.

Expressions of sympathy may be made by making memorial offerings in Norma’s memory to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 100 Peach Blossom Road, Easton, MD 21601.

Cremation was entrusted to Mid Shore Cremation Center, Cambridge.
