Patsy Jones McWilliams, Cambridge MD., passed away at her home on Sunday, June 10, 2012. Born in Cambridge on Sept. 4, 1936, she is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gorton H. McWilliams, one son Chet H. McWilliams and wife LeAnn, one daughter, Heidi McWilliams Stout and husband Frank, two special granddaughters that she referred to as her “angels" Taylor and Emily McWilliams all of Cambridge. Close relatives Mollie Brake, Richard Hargis, Ethel Jones, Debbie Behlke, Rocky Jones, Jay Jones, Casey Jones, Tina Mears, Keith Fearons, Betty, Shane and Joey Dennis and special friends Mario and Valerie Schreiber.

Patsy was raised in Cambridge by her grandmother Mrs. Virginia Jones. She graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1955. She was an excellent athlete and selected in junior high as May Queen and Miss CHS in high school. She was awarded the honor of Maryland’s best majorette and selected to lead the first marching band across the original Chesapeake Bay Bridge for the grand opening in 1952. She was head majorette for the high school, Cambridge Municipal and Post 91 marching bands. She taught aerobics and baton for many years. Patsy worked for C&P Telephone Co. as an operator and sales person and in later years as a school bus driver for the Dorchester Co. Board of Education transporting students with special needs. She loved swimming, biking, jogging, dancing and exercising, but most of all she loved being with her family. Patsy really enjoyed life and people. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Dorchester YMCA, and Elks Lodge 1272.

She was preceded in death by her mother Geraldine Mowbray and father Darcy Parella.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church 205 Maryland Avenue, Cambridge, MD at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012. Family and friends will be received at the Church beginning two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at East New Market Cemetery.
