Paul Hayward

Paul Kenneth Hayward, 58, of Cambridge passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 at UMSMC at Easton.
Born January 13, 1958, he was the son of Kenneth L. Hayward and the late Mildred Parker Hayward. Paul grew up on Hoopers Island. During his youth he was a member of Hosier Memorial United Methodist Church and was active in all the youth programs. He graduated from South Dorchester High School with the Class of 76, the schools last graduating class.
Upon graduating he entered the US Navy and proudly served his country for four years. He was stationed on the west coast and most of his duty was on the USS Thomaston. He was honorably discharged in 1980 after reaching the rank of E4.
Paul married the former Lisa Youngbar. They were married for thirteen years.
After returning from the Navy, Paul carried on the local tradition of being a waterman. After some years he started working at Coldwater Seafood Co. The lure of the open road drew him to trucking, the profession he greatly loved. He started with USA Trucking and then Carlton Trucking.
On June 30, 2000 Paul married Dawn Hamilton. They enjoyed eleven years together before her passing on November 6, 2011.
Paul lived a rather free spirited lifestyle. He enjoyed the music of Hank Williams Jr. and Travis Tritt, was always fond of sports such as NASCAR racing (especially Earnhardt and Earnhardt Jr.), the NBA and the Washington Redskins. A kind and gentle giant, his greatest love was for his family and his dog Frieda who was his constant companion.
Surviving is his father Kenneth Hayward of Cambridge; sister Brenda Anthony; nephew Roger "Lee" Anthony, Jr., both of Palmyra, VA; step children Savannah, Gerald and Jethro; several cousins and his beloved dog Frieda.
Preceding him in death besides his mother Mildred and wife Dawn was his brother-in-law Roger Lee Anthony.
