Peggy J. Colburn, 83, of Cambridge passed away peacefully on June 18, 2013.
Born in Cabin Creek on December 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Bertie Newcomb Johnson.
Peggy attended local schools and graduated from Cambridge High School. On April 15, 1949 she married Charles Franklin Colburn, Jr. and moved to Oxford where they raised two children. Mr. Colburn died on April 2, 1984.
Peggy was a loving mother and was an avid Orioles fan and enjoyed listening to country music.
Surviving her is a son Senator Richard F. Colburn and his wife Alma of Cambridge; a daughter Ella Marie Colburn and her companion John Hoffman of Taylors Island; a granddaughter Johanna Colburn; a dear friend Patsy Meredith and several nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by many of her children's friends who will remember her fondly as Miss Peggy.
Preceding her in death was a brother William Johnson; sisters, Rosa Lee Slacum and Mildred O. Johnson and half-sisters Edna Robbins and Judy Dawson.
A visitation with family will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 7 till 9 pm at the Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge. A private interment will be held at the Oxford Cemetery on June 22, 2013 with Rev. Delmer Willey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Peggy can be sent to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
