The last child born in Applegarth, Maryland on April 28, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Calvert and Martha Woodland Parks. She attended local schools and helped her mother with the raising of her siblings. At an early age she loved her church and attended Hopkins Chapel before moving to the middle island and became a member of Hoopers Memorial United Methodist Church. As a life member of the church she served as treasurer since 1984 and was active with the Woman's Group WSCS.
Rosa married her sweetheart, Leon E. Lewis, Sr. on September 14, 1940. As a wife of a waterman she enjoyed being on the boat with her husband, being a housewife and raising her children. Mr. Lewis passed away in 1997. Although as affectionately being referred to as "Mom Mom Rosie", her grandchildren and many in her extended family always looked to her as a mother. Family and friends alike could always confide in her and expect a hug. Many will miss her but comfort will be found by those in knowing she is at home with The Lord.

I already knew Janet & Lem Lewis, but his mother was a real inspiration to me, soft spoken, kind! The last time I saw her was at Walmart several years ago; she still had that beautiful wavy, silver hair! YES, I did get the warmest kind of hug. Thanks "Miss" Rosa! 05/17/2013 Debbie (Meredith) O'Bier Lemuel and family..... I am so sorry to learn of Miss Rosie's passing. She lead the way raising both our boys with all her little saying that came to be a way of life for me once I realized how important they were once you put them all together. That was just mom mom Rosie the one person in this world that had a calming effect on me. No matter what the subject she was so soft spoken and loving with her words. She taught me how to see life the way it is supposed to be. This lady had great strength and was a wonderful role model for me. She endured things that would take the average person to defeat and never did I hear a bad word come from her mouth. No matter what she only had good things to say or said nothing at all. I love you Rosie cheeks I will miss you more than words can say. 05/15/2013 Arlene Willey My sweet Aunt Rosie. I can't put into words how thankful I am to have been apart of your family.
