Rudolph “Rudy” J. Robbins, Sr., 84, of Fishing Creek, Maryland passed away peacefully Friday, October 4, 2013 at his home.
Born on August 26, 1929 in Robbins, MD he was a son of the late Sadie Stewart and William J. Robbins.
Rudy attended the local schools and was a graduate of Crapo High School.
After school Rudy enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict.
On September 7, 1949 he married the former Frances June Ruark of Hoopers Island and together were blessed with four sons. They enjoyed over 50 years of marriage before her passing on August 3, 2000.
Rudy was a waterman for most of his life. During the extreme winter months he would also trap the marshes. At times he would also drive for the local crab houses.
He loved the waterman’s life style. Rudy enjoyed helping his sons. His grandchildren would often go fishing on his boat and enjoyed the summertime with him. A proud member of the Fishing Creek community and was always happy to help and talk with all.
Rudy is survived by his four sons, Rudolph J. (Rudy) Robbins, Jr. and his wife Millie of Cambridge, MD, Eddy Robbins and his wife Deb of Salisbury, MD, Randy Robbins of Fishing Creek, MD and Ronnie Robbins and his wife Diana of Fishing Creek, MD; four grandchildren Amy Shuey and husband Chester, Lucas Robbins and wife Colby, Sandra Robbins, Jason Robbins and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife are three brothers, Alan, Bill and Mike Robbins: and a sister Nadine Burton.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 7, 2013 beginning 1 p.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Doug Ridley. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Lucas Robbins, Jason Robbins, Danny Wanex, Joseph Ruark, Sr., Mark Burton and Tommy (Bubby) Powley.
