Sandra Lee “Sandy” Simmons, 66, of Church Creek passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 at her home.
Born on November 4, 1946 in Cambridge she was the daughter of Peggy Todd Milligan and the late John Mace Todd. She attended the local schools in Cambridge.
On June 4, 1971 Sandy became the bride of James Larry Simmons. They were blessed with two daughters, Tracy and Dawn. Together they enjoyed 42 years of marriage. Although Sandy was employed with the local Wal-Mart for over 15 years she greatly enjoyed working on the water with Jimmy.
Sandy was a member of the VFW in Federalsburg.
Besides working on the water Sandy’s other love was her grandchildren. She was a smiling and happy face that always brought joy and comfort in their lives. Of course Sandy could also be seen occasionally at Harrington’s Slots where she enjoyed the excitement and atmosphere.
Surviving besides her husband and mother are daughters Tracy Taylor and Dawn Simmons; sisters Sue Wilson, Diana Brooks, Debbie Brooks Cindy Osburn and Sherry Wheatley; grandchildren Jimmy Taylor, Lauren Abbott and Madison Abbott; great grandchildren David and Joey Taylor.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge beginning 1 p.m. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Chuck Hudson. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Ashton, Jr., Jimmy Taylor, Leroy Bell, Kevin Morgan, Joe Chester, Jackie McGlaughlin, Johnny McGlaughlin and Brian Kemp.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Sandy can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803.
