Thaddeus Martin Borz, Sr., age 74, of Cambridge, MD, died late Wednesday night, July 21, 2010.
Born on August 4, 1935 in Camden, NJ, he was the son of the late Thaddeus A. Borz and Helen Mary Skorupski.
Mr. Borz was a graduate of Merchantville High School, Merchantville, NJ and St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, PA, Class of 1958.
On June 14, 1958, he married the former Patricia A. Mason.
Mr. Borz served in the Army National Guard for four years.
He and his wife moved from New Jersey to Crystal Beach, MD where they discovered their love for the Chesapeake Bay, its food and in particular oysters. Knowing the desire to live on the water in a smaller community, they found solace in the Hudson area of Dorchester County after retirement in 1997. In 1998, they purchased a trawler and sailed the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries for two wonderful years. Mr. Borz was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his youth, he was a competitive swimmer. He also enjoyed woodworking. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather his happiest moments were those of sharing time and advice.
Mr. Borz was a communicant of St. Mary, Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church, Cambridge.
Surviving besides his wife of 52 years, Patricia A. Borz of Cambridge, MD are five children Ted Borz of Buena, NJ, Patty Ruggiero and her husband Mark of Franklinville, NJ, Judy Adirzone and her husband Joe of Hammonton, NJ, Adam “Tony” Borz also of Hammonton, NJ and Taddy Borz of Cambridge, MD; five grandchildren Meghan, Taylor and Brenna Borz and Jay and Eric Adirzone; two sisters Helen Giberson and her husband Melbourne of Uwchland, PA, Paula Brogan and her husband Byard of Gwynedd Valley, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 26th at St. Mary, Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church, Glasgow Street and Hambrooks Blvd., Cambridge. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. William Lawler, Rector. Inurnment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made in Thaddeus Borz’s memory to The Muscular Dystrophy Association, 8501 LaSalle Rd., Suite 106 Towson, MD 21286 or to St. Mary, Refuge of Sinners Church, PO Box 218, Cambridge, MD 21613.
