Andrew Edward Willey, Sr., 79, affectionately known as “Andy” and lovingly nicknamed “Strawberry” by a close friend, passed away on May 7, 2026, at UMSMC at Easton. Born on August 29, 1946, in Cambridge, Maryland, Andrew lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a deep connection to his community.
A proud graduate of South Dorchester High School’s class of 1964, Andrew carried the spirit of his hometown with him throughout his life. He served honorably in the National Guard Reserves, demonstrating his commitment to his country and community. Professionally, he devoted many years to Verizon, retiring after a distinguished career. Beyond his personal pursuits, Andrew generously offered his time and talents to Cambridge South Dorchester High School, assisting with senior class plays for many years—a reflection of his enduring support for the youth and arts of his community.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Martha Phillips Willey who he married on September 6, 1968; his children, Valeria Arlene Willey, Andrew E. “Andy” Willey, Jr. (and Ruth Bramble), Angela Huffman and her husband Steve, and # 3 daughter Jennifer Windsor Harrington; and his beloved sister, Margaret Ann Glidden and David. Andrew’s legacy continues through his grandchildren, Morgan Willey, Jonathan Willey, Justin Huffman, and Andrew J. Willey, and his great-grandchildren Avery and Alice Willey. He was also cherished by his aunt, Betty Wright and several nieces and nephews.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, Julian Homer Willey and Peggy Ann Wright Willey, his brother James H. Willey and his faithful companion, Bruiser the dog.
