Anna Belle Birch, 83, of Cambridge, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Mallard Bay Care Center, Cambridge, Md.
Born May 23, 1929, Anna Belle was one of four children of the late Ebben and Iva Lewis McGlaughlin of Wingate. She attended the local schools in Crapo.
As a young woman, Anna Belle worked in the area's seafood plants picking crabs. Afterwards she was employed at Airpax Electronics and later became a Nursing Aide with the State of Maryland, State Hospital system from which she retired.
Anna Belle enjoyed the outdoors, an avid sunbather that her bronze tan made apparent. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She loved her family and many friends.
Surviving are her two children from a previous marriage to the late Ashland Ruark, William "BB" Ruark and his wife Chris of Longmeadow, Mass. and Arlene Harper and her husband Tawes, Jr. of Cambridge; stepdaughter Zadith Cook and husband John of Annapolis, Md.; former husband Keyworth "Buddy" Birch; a brother Willis McGlaughlin; sister in law Alene McGlaughlin; grandchildren William Harper, Elizabeth Barton, Michael Harper and Dr. Daryle Ruark and wife Michelle; great grandchildren Tawes "TA" Alan Harper, Ryan Barton, Michael Barton, Derek Ruark and a number of nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are very special and close friends Donna and Joe Willey, Doris Insley, Charlene Stagg, Peggy Taylor and Kelly Oberender.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was a brother William McGlaughlin, a sister Norma Simmons and sister in law Bessie McGlaughlin.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2012 beginning 2 p.m. at the Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home P.A., Cambridge. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be Monday, October 22, 2012 beginning 1 p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge. Officiating at the services will be Rev. Delmer Willey.
Serving as pallbearers will be Marlene Adkins, Ryan Oberender, William Tawes Harper, Tawes "TA" Harper and Tawes Harper, Jr.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Anna Belle can be made to the Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
