Arnold Francis Tink Noland, Jr., age 79, of Hoopersville, MD, died Friday, December 2, 2011 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, Glen Burnie, MD.

Born on January 25, 1932 in Chesapeake City, MD, he was the son of the late Arnold F. Nowland, Sr. and Anna Rhoades Nowland.

Tink, as he was affectionately known, served his country in the United States Army from December 2, 1952 until January 31, 1956 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

In 1954 he married the former Carolyn Uren.

In 1992 he retired as a tug boat engineer for Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BG&E).

Tink and his wife have been residents of Hoopersville for twenty five years.

Tink was a member of the Hosier Memorial United Methodist Church in Fishing Creek, Hoopers Island Volunteer Fire Department and the VFW Post 7687, Chesapeake City, MD.

Tink loved the natural beauty of Hoopers Island and its people. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and was especially fond of oysters and in particular the oysters served at the fire house dinners.

Surviving besides his wife Carolyn Noland are four children Clifton Noland and his wife Joanie of Laurel, MD, Stanley Noland and his companion Carol of Woolford, MD, Deborah Teare and her husband James of Pasadena, MD, Kathleen Noland and her fiancé Larry of Annapolis, MD; sixteen grandchildren Jonathan T. Noland, Tyler D. Noland, Austin P. Noland, Dustin Noland, James G. Brewer, Anastasia Rogers, Jessica M. Hooper, Jimmy Teare, Mary E. Teare, Emily C. Teare, Kera Jo Cherrey and Tyera Lyn Cherrey, Jenny Barton, Chip Barton, Samantha Ross and Adrienna Castle; great-grandchildren Ava Marie Hooper, Natalie S. Brewer and Herrison C. Hardy; brother-in-law Richard Uren; former son-in-law George Cherrey; former daughter-in-law B.J. Crouse; nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were two siblings Gladys Caleb and Raymond Nowland.

Tink was cremated and his Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10th at Hosier Memorial United Methodist Church, Fishing Creek, MD where the family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Doug Ridley. At a later date, the inurnment will be held privately at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, MD.

Florists: Please deliver flowers to funeral home Friday by 5 p.m. or Saturday by 11 a.m. Or you may take them directly to church on Saturday morning.

Directions to the church for out of town guests:
East Bound 50, make right at Walmart and Hyatt light (cambridge beltway), continue straight about 8 miles, make left in church creek (follow Blackwater Wildlife signs), continue straight until you come to Gootee's Marine, make a right, continue about eight more miles and cross bridge onto the island and the church will be on your left just a bit down.
West Bound 50, make left at Walmart and Hyatt light. Proceed as above.
