Bernice Arlene Meredith, 84 years old, fondly known as Arlene was born on January 20, 1941, in Maryland. She spent her formative years in Toddville, where she excelled academically, ultimately becoming the valedictorian of her graduating class at South Dorchester High School. Her commitment to education set a strong foundation for her future endeavors.
Arlene passed away on January 13, 2026, at Bay Harbor Post -Acute and Rehab Center in Salisbury, Maryland. She is predeceased by her father, A Tawes Meredith; her mother, Bernice Murphy Meredith; and her brother, Amos Tawes Meredith.
Arlene's professional journey began when she took a position as a secretary to Harold Kincaid at Harold Kincaid Tire and Appliance Store. Following the closure of this business, she continued her career as an administrative assistant to Elvin Thomas, who oversaw the County Road's Board. This role was a significant part of her life, and she dedicated many years of service before retiring.
After a long and fulfilling career, Arlene relocated with her family to Cambridge, where they lived for 32 years before moving to Talbot County. Although she did not leave behind any immediate family, Arlene was surrounded by a multitude of friends who cherished her warmth and kindness. She made lasting connections within the community, and her absence will be deeply felt by many special friends, including Keith McMahan, Joseph Kincaid and his wife Maureen, Suzie Coleca, Harriett Leap, Diane Dulin, Bruce and Robin Herman, Jeanne Webster, Nancy Hayward, and her neighbors Bill and Janice Ridgely.
A viewing will be held on January 22, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home located at 308 High Street, Cambridge, Maryland with Pastor Steve Bloodsworth officiating. Interment will follow the service at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge.
Serving as pallbearers will be Keith McMahan, Joseph Kincaid, Dirk Leap and Devon Leap.
Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Ridgely.
Bernice Arlene Meredith's legacy of kindness, compassion, and community involvement lives on in the hearts of her friends and all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be remembered for her dedication, her spirit, and her unwavering connection to the people around her.
