Darius W. Riley, Sr. of Cambridge, Maryland passed away on Saturday morning, April 2, 2022 at his home with his family at his side.
Born in Gardners, Massachusetts on October 24, 1942, he was a son of the late John and Mary Greene Riley.
Darius attended the local schools in Massachusetts. After graduation he received an Associate’s Degree and was then accepted into nursing school to become an LPN.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Bristol. He was honorably discharged in 1962.
Darius married the former Janet M. Wilson and they made their home in Cambridge.
He was a member of Beckwith United Methodist Church, VFW Post #7460 and American Legion Post #91.
Surviving him is his wife Janet; sons Peter I. Riley, Andrew P. Riley and Dwight M. Riley; grandchildren Jonathon Riley, Julie Magee and David P. Riley; great grandson Brantley Magee; sisters Mary E. Gallant, Laura L. Smith (William); brothers Donald F. Riley, Raymond M. Riley(Anne) and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in his death besides his parents were two sons Darius W. Riley, Jr and Richard D. Riley; brother, John P. Riley and sister, Melissa R. Kent.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 beginning 11:00 a.m.at Beckwith United Methodist Church with military honors. Pastor Nan Duerling will officiate.
