Edna “Sis” Lorraine Pritchett, 94, formerly of Cambridge passed away Thursday morning August 10, 2017 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford DE.
Born November 7, 1922 in Cambridge she was the daughter of the late Edna Orem Jones and William Jones, Jr.
She attended the local schools and graduated from Cambridge High School with the Class of 41. On March 21, 1943 she married her high school sweetheart Nathan Pritchett. They were an example of the perfect couple, enjoyed traveling, music, dancing, motorcycle riding and just spending all of their time together. Nathan passed away in 1977.
“Sis’ began a career with Dorchester Water Company as a clerk in 1952 and eventually became the office manager. After the City acquired the water system in 1959 she continued on with the Municipal Utilities Commission as office manager and retired in 1983 after 31 years of service.
Everyone knew “Sis” a caring person. After Nathan’s death she brought her mother to live with her and took care of her until her passing in 1990.
She was very fond of all wildlife and most importantly dogs and cats. “Sis” spent a great deal of her life taking care of her pets and also the many strays that would also show up for some food and loving. A huge warm heart has now left us but her legacy of love lives on.
Surviving are her cousins Janis Bealifeld of Georgetown, DE with whom she made her home due to her failing health, Thelma Gosnell, Marcella Schmidt, Veronica Martz, Lorraine Conway, Donna Rice and her husband Phil, along with extended family and friends.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were her twin infant daughters and a sister Norma Lee Jones.
