Edward Wayne Stivers, 74, of Cambridge, MD passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, July 18, 2015 at Chesapeake Woods Center.
Born September 18, 1940 in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Elizabeth Chance Stivers and Edward Elmer Stivers.
After attending the local schools in Baltimore, he married the former Sue Ann Hafner in 1959. They made their home in Baltimore until 1985 when they moved to Town Point near Cambridge, MD. In 1992, they moved to Federalsburg, MD, where they resided until Sue Ann’s passing on March 28, 2008. Soon after, Ed relocated back to the Cambridge area.
Throughout Ed’s career he was a commercial printer.
Passionate about fishing, Ed was a long-time member of the MSSA and had served as its President. As Ed and Sue were both animal lovers, together they were the owners of Lighthouse Kennels. Ed loved his German Shepherds and Sue Ann’s favorites were her Boston Terriers. A very kind-hearted gentleman, Ed was always there to help anyone, regardless of whether they were a friend or complete stranger. His family is very proud of their father’s character and integrity.
Ed is survived by his three sons; Mark Wayne Stivers and his wife Roxanne of Secretary, MD, Robert Ernest Stivers of Westminster, MD, Daniel Joseph Stivers and his wife Dawn of East New Market, MD; siblings Edith Donohue of Laurel, MD, Ida Wasarhelyi of Glen Burnie, MD, William Stivers of Columbia, MD, and Dave Stivers of Relay, MD; eight grandchildren Jessica Elizabeth Webster and her husband Lawrence, Tina Marie Stivers, Mark Wayne Stivers, Jr., Robert Ernest Stivers, Jr., Michael Vincent Stivers, Daniel Joseph Stivers Jr., Eric Paul Stivers, and Hailey Elizabeth Stivers; eight great-grandchildren Alexis Leann Smith, Richard Lawrence Webster, Lauren Elizabeth Webster, Amberlyn Marie Stivers, Christopher Alan Stivers, Ryan Scott Stivers, Nathaniel Grant Stivers, and Jacob Alan Elliott.
Preceding Ed in death in addition to his parents and wife, was a son, Edward James Stivers.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2015 beginning at 12:00 noon at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge, MD. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Pastor Lee Hugart, of First Baptist Church, Hurlock, MD.
Interment will immediately follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Easton, MD.
Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Joseph Stivers, Jr., Mark Wayne Stivers, Jr., Eric Paul Stivers, and Michael Vincent Stivers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Ed should be made to a charity of your choice.
