Elsie Jones

Elsie “Jean” Jones, age 75, of Easton, MD, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Memorial Hospital at Easton, Easton, MD.

Born on February 21, 1935 at Tilghman Island, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Marion Kelley Fairbank.

Jean was raised on Tilghman Island and was a graduate of St. Michaels High School, Class of 1952.

On September 14, 1952, she married Jackie M. Jones in the Tilghman Methodist Church. They were married for 57 years before his passing on September 19, 2009.

Jean was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Easton where she enjoyed her Friday mornings folding the bulletin for Sunday Services and was a helper in the 2 year old preschool program.

In addition to being a homemaker, she was employed at Higgins and Spencer for many years making custom drapes.

Surviving are three sons Wayne and his wife Becky of Cordova, Bruce and his wife Lisa of Cambridge, and Kelly of Easton; six grandchildren, Mickee Roser and her husband Darin of Easton, Carrie Middleton and her husband Jimmy of Cordova, Courtney Wisk and her husband Andrew of Salisbury, Michael Jones and his wife Ashley of Cambridge, and RJ. and Justin Jones of Easton; eight great-grandchildren Ellie and Anna Roser, Joshua, Emma and Nathan Middleton, Julia Wish, Alex and Zach Jones; a sister Ellen Cannon of Salisbury, MD; a sister-in-law Mary Jane Fairbank of Sherwood; four nieces and two nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was a brother Charles Fairbank and brother-in-law Sam Cannon.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21st at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 7215 Ocean Gateway, Easton MD where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Kevin Graudin. Inurnment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Easton.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial offerings be made in Jean’s memory to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Preschool Program, 7215 Ocean Gateway, Easton, MD 21601.
