Emma Marie Harris, 93, of Cambridge passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the home of her daughter Sandra, with whom she resided for the past 3 1/2 years.
Born March 4, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Annie Mills. Marie attended local schools and graduated from Cambridge High School.
On September 11, 1937 she became the wife of Wallace Harris. They enjoyed nearly 52 years of marriage. Wallace passed away June 28, 1989.
Marie worked for Henry DeVos Jewelry Store for over 25 years. Later she worked at Wal-Mart for 5 years till her health declined. Her warm personality, sparkle in her eyes, and constant smile made her a natural people person.
At home on the greens, Marie was an avid golfer. She continued to play up to her 90th birthday. She also enjoyed playing bingo with friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Foxwell of Cambridge and Pamela Hurley and husband Dolan of Hudson.
Also surviving is a granddaughter Laura Wallach and her husband Buddy of Federalsburg and two great granddaughters Billie Joe Wallach and Emily Elizabeth Wallach.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by a brother Thomas H. Mills.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home P.A., Cambridge, beginning 2 p.m. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Chuck Hudson. Friends will be received the hour prior.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marie's memory can be made to the Riverside Wesleyan Church, 1114 Keyes Road, Fishing Creek, MD 21634.
