Faye Marjorie Willoughby, a cherished soul and vibrant spirit, was born on September 20, 1933, in Cambridge, Maryland to the late Ernie and Blanche Sheehee Jones. She left this world on December 30, 2025, at Encompass Health and Rehab in Salisbury, Maryland, leaving behind a legacy woven with love, laughter, and a dedication to family that will forever be cherished.
Faye's journey through life saw her graduating from Cambridge High School with the class of 1951, which was just the beginning of her many contributions to those around her. On August 8, 1952, Faye married Donald L. Willoughby and together raised 4 sons.
Her professional path included working at Airpax Electronics and serving the community through her role in a school cafeteria, where her warmth and kindness nourished both the body and spirit of countless children and staff alike. Faye was a devoted member of Friendship Methodist Church, where her faith was a guiding light in her life. She possessed a personality that was infectious; she was always laughing and carried the biggest smile. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her understood that her laughter was a balm for many and her joy was a gift shared generously with everyone she encountered. A renowned and adored cook, Faye loved her family above all else. She delighted in cooking for them and welcomed anyone who wanted to join in at her table. Each meal she prepared was an expression of love, and her kitchen was often filled with the tantalizing aromas of her culinary creations, as well as the sounds of laughter and storytelling shared with family, friends, and neighbors.
Faye's greatest pride came from her children: Donald Richard Willoughby (Linda), Jeffrey Lee Willoughby (Melissa), Kirk Allan Willoughby (Betsy) and Troy Jones Willoughby (Karen). She was equally proud of her grandchildren, Ryan Willoughby, Crystal Willoughby, Jason Willoughby, Jenna Smith, Beth Willoughby, Taylor Willoughby and Alexis Willoughby, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her legacy will also be carried on by her fourteen great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and continued the family tradition of love and laughter. In times of grief, she is lovingly remembered by her nieces Shelby Jean Gootee and Linda Wright and her nephews, Ernie Smith and Dennis Jones, who cherished their relationship with her.
Faye was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, Donald L. Willoughby, her son Kirk Alan Willoughby, and her sisters Jean Vickers and Betty Smith, as well as her brother Melvin Jones. Each of these connections deepened Faye's understanding of love, sharpening her resolve to cherish every moment spent with family.
A memorial service to celebrate Faye's epic life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 12:00 - 12:20 pm. at Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Hurlock, MD, with Pastor Shelly McCollister officiating, where family and friends will come together to honor her memory.
