Gordon McDonald

Gordon F. McDonald, (aka) Mac or Goof, 90 years old, of Hurlock, Maryland passed away on May 14, 2018.

Raised in Choptank, Maryland he was a son of the late Alexander S. McDonald, Sr. who died in 1955 and Mamie V. ( Whiteley) McDonald who died in 1982. Mac was the husband of the late Shirley Lee (Hitch) McDonald who passed away in 1998.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Alexander S. McDonald, Jr., Herbert H. McDonald, Gary F. McDonald; sisters Phyllis M. Hitchens, Constance (Sis) O. Price and Rose E. Hewitt.

Mac served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948 as a naval nurse. After a brief stint at DuPont where he met his wife, Mac worked as a lineman for Delmarva Power retiring in 1988 with 36 years of service. He loved to play cards, crab, fish and hunt. He also found enjoyment as being a big teaser.

Mac and Shirley had 6 children, Craig A. McDonald, Sr., Barry L. McDonald (deceased), Stuart J. McDonald (wife Eileen), Sandra L. McDonald, Gayle A. Walter (husband Jimmy) and Kenneth P. McDonald (wife Pat). He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 beginning 3:00 p.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge. Officiating will be Pastor Lee Hughart. Family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Upper Bambury Cemetery in Trappe.

Mac’s family will serve as pallbearers.
