Helen W. Barnett, 87, of Rhodesdale, Maryland passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
Born on June 9, 1927 in Cambridge, MD she was the daughter of the late Leon and Eva Wheatley Warrington.
She attended the local schools and graduated from Cambridge High School. Later she married Robert Barnett and together raised four children. Mr. Barnett died December 27, 1989.
Helen worked at Nathans Furniture Store and duPont Nylon Plant. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier after many years of employment. She was a member of the Eldorado United Methodist Church and attended until her health no longer allowed her to. Mrs. Barnett was a life-time member of the Eldorado Brookview Volunteer Fire Company and member of the Homemakers Club. She was an avid animal lover and would take in all the strays she could find. Helen loved her family and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children, Thomas L. Barnett (Beverly) of Brookview, Barbara Warrell (Norman) of Rhodesdale and Michael Barnett of Rhodesdale; grandchildren Andy Barnett, Wanda Hodges, Brian Warrell, Kelly Foskey, Jonathan Barnett, Cody Barnett, Richard Barnett, Steve Barnett and Theresa Ferris; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was a step- son Grant Barnett.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2015 beginning 2:00 p.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge. Family will receive friends an hour prior to service. Officiating will be Rev. Karen Handy and Rev. MaryAnn Farnell. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Barnett, Brian Warrell, Tim Foskey, Thomas “Tommy” Barnett, Cody Barnett, Jonathan Barnett and Dustin Lawson.
