Helen Travers

Helen C. Travers, 90, of Cambridge passed away peacefully early Friday, November 3, 2017 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Born July 3, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Grace Marie Gootee Cusick and Edgar C. Cusick. She grew up in Golden Hill and attended St. John’s United Methodist Church. She attended Cambridge High School and graduated with the Class of 1944.
On October 10, 1953 she married Eugene T. Travers, Sr. Together they were blessed with one child, Eugene T. Travers, Jr.
Helen was a long time employee with the Richardson Style Shop. She served as the book keeper for over fifty years. After her retirement she began her second career as manager of the Robin Hood Shop. Helen retired the second time on September 26, 2014, after 20 years with the shop. She also volunteered and was a member of the Dorchester General Auxiliary.
She enjoyed her family and going places with her sister and sister in laws. Helen was a beloved daughter, sister, mother and friend to many. She will be missed.
Surviving is her son Eugene T. Travers, Jr. and wife Tina; sister Norma Lee Cusick; sister in laws Jane Cusick, Jill Cusick and Marie Cusick; granddaughter Rachel Bradley along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents are seven brothers; four sister in laws and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 beginning 1 pm at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Pastor Dan Gustafason. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Greg Cusick, Lynn Cusick, Gary Cusick, Wayne Cusick, Garry Brohawn and David Cox.
