James C. Echard Sr.

James C. Echard Sr., 76, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.

He was born March 15, 1935 in Washington, DC, son of the late John and Arlene Alexander Echard.

As a child, James moved to Maryland where he resided for the duration of his life.

James proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp and became a superior marksman. In August 1959 he married Helen Yvonne Caldwell and together they raised nine children. James was a loving and caring father who devoted his life to the ones he loved. He touched their hearts and souls and his presence was a gift they will always be thankful for. James will be remembered for the many sacrifices he made for his country and his children.

As a professional painter , James supported his family putting in long hours for over 30 years.

James is survived by his wife Helen of Deal Island MD; three daughters Sharon Payne of Salisbury, MD; Carol Proctor of Linkwood, MD; Tammy Davis of Princess Anne, MD; five sons Johnny Echard of Columbia, MD;Tommy Echard and wife Jody of Laurel, MD; Bobby Echard and wife Lisa of Mt. Aiery, MD; Danny Echard and wife Julie of Annapolis, MD and Donny Echard of Jacksonville, FL. A brother John William Echard Jr.of Kentland MD and a sister Judy Echard of New Jersey. Fourteen grandchildren, Cassie, Stephanie, Christopher, Carrie, Samantha , Shannon, Jimmy, Markus, Michael, Ryan, Alex, Kayla, Megan and Kaleigh. Several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was a son James C. Echard Jr.

Funeral Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Crownsville, MD with Military Honors. Interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of James may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern Shore Chapter, 909 Progress Circle, Suite 400, Salisbury, MD 21804.
