JOHN GEORGE GROVE, IV

John George Grove, IV, age 60 of Toddville, MD, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 and was pronounced dead at Dorchester General Hospital.

Born on July 21, 1947 in Cheverly, MD, he was the son of the late John George Grove, III and W. Joan Holliday Grove.

John was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Purple Heart.

He was a plumber, heating and air conditioner contractor owning John Grove Plumbing and Heating of Beltsville, MD which did contractual work with Pinacle of Bethesda, MD.

On April 3, 1993 he married the former Ella L. Hinckle.

In 1994, he and his wife moved to Toddville from Laurel, MD.

John was a member Zion United Methodist Church of Toddville, MD, Alcoholics Anonymous of Beltsville, MD and the Dorchester Coin Club.

John was an animal lover. He was extremely talented and liked oil painting, making jewelry and leatherworks. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving besides his wife of fourteen years, Ella L. Grove of Toddville, MD, is a daughter Georgia Picard of Chestertown, MD, eight step-children David Craycraft of Jackson, Michigan, Penny McNiel of Portland, Oregon, Pamela Hinckle of Marengo, Illinois, Michael Wilson Craycraft of Jackson, Michigan, Billy Jo Granell of Badax, Michigan, Timothy John Craycraft of Pigeon, Michigan, Jeremy Nielson of Birmingham, Michigan, Jennifer Neilson of Royal Oak, Michigan; three sisters Lynn Grove, Cherrie Pesce, Jo Greenwell; a brother Tommy Grove; fourteen grandchildren including Grant and Mina Picard with whom had lived with him for a period of time; nieces and nephews and an expected great-grandchild.

A Time of Reflection will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 29th at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. with Military Honors. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. David L. Kreek. Inurnment will be held at a later date at The Maryland Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made in John’s memory to Zion United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Peggy Pritchett, 2513 Toddville Rd., Toddville, MD 21672 or to the Lakes & Straits Vol. Fire Department, Wingate, MD 21675.
