Kathleen Ireland Kirby

Kathleen (Kathi) Ireland Kirby passed away on May 13, 2026, at the age of 87, from the effects of Alzheimer’s.

Kathi was a mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife. She was also a very successful Realtor in the Northern Virginia area. After living and working in the Reston, Virginia area for over 40 years, she and her husband, Tom, relocated to her hometown of Cambridge, MD, where she enjoyed living on the water and reconnecting with friends from her childhood. Living in the home that her father had personally renovated was a joy for her in her later years.

Kathi is survived by her 4 children, Holly, Tim, Geoffrey and Dal, as well as Holly’s husband, Bob, 7 grandchildren (Kristine, Kaylie, Robbie, Caroline, Carter, Austyn, Nathan) and 4 (soon to be 5) great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglass Chambers and Yvonne McCallister Ireland, her identical twin sister, Gail McCutcheon (Bruce),  her brother Douglass, Jr. (Claudia), as well as her husband, Thomas "Tom” Austin Kirby.

A private service will be held in Cambridge, MD and her ashes will be buried at St. John’s Chapel on Hudson Rd. A Celebration of Life will take place from 2-4 p.m. on August 15, 2026 at Kalypso Restaurant, 1617 Washington Plaza N. Reston, Virginia 20190.
