Laura Kristen Elliott (38)
Laura K. Elliott of Cambridge, Maryland passed away on April 23, 2023, at University of Maryland Medical Center in Easton with her family and closest friends by her side. Born on July 10, 1984 in Cambridge, Maryland, Laura graduated from Cambridge South Dorchester High School with the class of 2002.
During her years in high school, she was on the cheerleading squad and was in her Senior Class Play, “Singing in the Rain.” She enjoyed spending time with her friends, going to the movies (especially Harry Potter films), and going to see live music/concerts. She was a big fan of the New England Patriots, especially during the Brady years, and she loved going to Orioles home games.
Laura lived with her grandmother, “G-Baby,” until her grandmother’s passing in 2012. Laura cherished spending time with her grandmother just running errands, watching Cash Cab, and especially going to the Cambridge Yacht Club. Laura was a great help to her grandmother in her later years, and often commented on how much she treasured braiding G-Baby’s hair for her.
Laura loved special events and holidays and could always be counted on to help decorate for birthdays, Christmas, and Super Bowl Parties, and she always brought her famous deviled eggs. Her favorite holiday was St. Patrick’s Day and she never missed the opportunity to celebrate her Irish Heritage.
Laura was a kindhearted, thoughtful, and giving person. She loved children and animals. She considered all of her friend’s children and pets to be her “nieces” and “nephews” and she loved spending time with them. She spent much of her time with her dear friend, Allison, and her two children, Jaxson and Olivia, and was known as “Auntie Laura” to them. Laura will be dearly missed by her family and host of friends.
She is survived by her parents, Winford “Wink” Johnson Elliott, Jr. and Kim Renkwitz Elliott; a brother, Winford “Winkie” Johnson Elliott, III (Selena); two nephews, Winford “Little Winkie” Johnson Elliott, IV and Xavier Krew Elliott; her aunt and uncle, Evelyn and Arthur Renkwitz; aunts Sharon Elliott, Melissa Elliott, Connie Black, Traci Greenlee; uncle Forrest Elliott and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandmother Irene Renkwitz and her lifelong friend Roxanne Willey, both of whom she missed dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, beginning 2 pm. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home (Cambridge) with Pastor Steve Bloodsworth officiating. A visitation with family will be held an hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, 308 High St., Cambridge, MD 21613 to help with the funeral cost.
