Lois May Cartright

On June 12, 2026, Lois May (Reedy) Cartright, loving mother, passed away peacefully in Clermont, Florida at the age of 91. Lois was born on October 31, 1934 in Dayton, IA and moved to Humboldt, IA as a child. Lois graduated from Humboldt High School in 1952. On November 4, 1954, she married Harold (Hal) E. Cartright. Lois and Hal just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary before Hal passed away in November of 2020. Hal and Lois were members of the Fishing Creek community for over 40 years. Lois moved from Humboldt, IA at the young age of 18 to accept a job with the FBI as a fingerprint analyst. She took the oath for the FBI on May, 4 1953. Lois met Hal shortly after her adventure started in Washington D.C. when she cashed a traveler’s check where Hal worked.They raised three children in Beltsville, Maryland where they resided for 20 years. Lois was a dedicated homemaker, finding her greatest joy in nurturing her family and supporting her loved ones.Survivors include daughter Tammie Roppelt (Donald), son Raymond Cartright (Barbara) and daughter Vickie Vargo (Wesley); granddaughters, Brigitte Simms, Monica Cordero, and Michelle Vargo; grandsons, Kyle Cartright, Brandon Vargo, and Ryan Cartright; and great grandsons Oliver Stancill, and Baylen Cordero; great granddaughters, Crimson Cordero, and Eliana Cartright as well as brother, Ron Reedy, and sister Donna Bastian. She also had many loving nieces and nephews. Lois is preceded in death by her husband Harold E. Cartright, grandson Nicholas Cartright, a brother, Dale Reedy, and a sister Shirley Ann Reedy..Lois loved tinkering in her flowerbeds and loved her flowers, loved to sew, and loved playing with her grandchildren. She always had fun activities planned from beach time, swinging, Play-Doh, teaching sewing, crochet, or cooking many of her recipes passed down from her mother from Iowa. Lois loved to host family gatherings at their home in Fishing Creek. Lois and Hal also traveled to all 50 states and Europe. Details for a celebration of life will be announced in the future.
