Marjorie A. Burton
Marjorie Adams Burton, age 85, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge, MD.
Born April 18, 1926 in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Charles G. Adams Sr. and Martha Lewis Adams.
Marjorie attended local schools and graduated from Cambridge High School.
On September 20, 1946, Marjorie was married to Leon Mace Burton. Mr. Burton passed away November 11, 1986.
She attended the Church of the Nazarene and was a member for many years. Marjorie was very influential with bringing into the church the younger generation. Church dinners were always one of her favorite things in lending a helping hand.
Marjorie retired from Cambridge Wire Cloth after more than forty years of service. She also worked at Woolworths and Sears for a short period. Along with being a member of the Church, she also enjoyed volunteering with The Pink Ladies Club and taking care of her many cats.
Marjorie is survived by a niece Jeanne Adams Simko and husband Eric of Newport News, VA., cousins Rose Hubbard of Cambridge, Janet Emerson and husband Toby of Hurlock, Jay Hubbard and wife Christie of Cambridge and Robert K. Lloyd and wife Betty of Cambridge.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was a brother Charles G. Adams Jr.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Church of the Nazarene, Cambridge, MD. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Richard Prahl. Interment will follow at the Dorchester Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Simko, Dylan Emerson, David Kemp, Brian Kemp, Rodney Kemp and Bryan Hubbard.
