MARTHA E. MOWBRAY
Martha Elba Gootee Mowbray, age 84, of Cambridge, MD, died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Dorchester General Hospital.
Born on January 3, 1925 in Cambridge, MD, she was the daughter of the late Herman E. Gootee and Lottie M. Lane Gootee.
Mrs. Mowbray was a graduate of Cambridge High School, Class of 1943.
On December 15, 1945 she married Roland Mowbray. Mr. Mowbray died on December 24, 1977.
For thirty years, Mrs. Mowbray had worked for A & P Foods Store, Cambridge, MD as a cashier.
Mrs. Mowbray was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Cambridge and a member of the Dr. Hines Bible Class.
Mrs. Mowbray was an avid reader and she had enjoyed taking care of gardens when her health permitted.
Surviving is a daughter Carolyn Holliday and her husband Andrew G. Holliday, Jr., of Cambridge, MD; a grandson Brian Andrew Holliday; two grandchildren Alyssa Diane Holliday and Colton Andrew Holliday; nieces; nephews; and her cat Tiger.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was a brother Everett E. Gootee.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, April 1st at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 2nd 11:00 a.m. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Jay Hurley. Burial will follow in East New Market Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be William Short, Jr., Kurt Riehl, Ronny Thomas, David Marshall, Jr., Guy Willey, Jr., and Phil Roath.
