Mary Calloway

Mary Garland (Brooks) Calloway, 61, of Cambridge, Maryland passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Chesapeake Woods Center, Cambridge with her loving husband by her side.

Born on June 27, 1957 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was a daughter of Virginia Lipsey Brooks and the late Paul Rue Brooks.

She attended the local schools in Dorchester County graduating from Cambridge High School with the class of 1975.

On October 18, 1996 Mary married Mike Calloway and when not traveling they made their home in Cambridge.

Mary was employed with the family business Brooks Barrels, Cambridge Tourism and retired from the City of Cambridge as an Economic Development Coordinator.

She was a devoted member of the Cambridge Wesleyan Church, Cambridge Main St., Chesapeake Country Heritage, South Dorchester Folk Museum and the Eastern Shore Corvette Club.

Mary loved traveling, especially Aruba and Saint Maarten in the Caribbean.

Surviving Mary besides her husband and mother are two sons Derek Wanex and Richard Wanex (Dena); stepson Mike Calloway, Jr.; three grandchildren Brooke & Amy Wanex and Holly Calloway; sister Jane Linder and husband Allen.

Preceding her in death besides her father was her daughter Kristen Wanex.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 beginning 12:00 noon at the Cambridge Wesleyan Church, 803 Race Street, Cambridge, MD.
