MARY LOWE

Mary I. Willey Lowe, 81, went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Cecil W. Lowe, who died May 17, 1982.

She was born August 2, 1926 in Bucktown, Dorchester County, Maryland and was the daughter of the late Medford Willey, Sr. and Elizabeth Willey. She lived her entire life in the Cambridge area.

Mrs. Lowe was a devoted member of Bucktown United Methodist Church. She taught adult Sunday school for over fifty years and was president of The United Methodist Women. She was instrumental in organizing the annual bazaar and helped with many church dinners. Mrs. Lowe organized many “class reunion” luncheons for her graduating class.

Mrs. Lowe had been a Secretary at Nathan’s Furniture. She also helped her husband with farming and enjoyed gardening and crafts. She was an avid walker and also volunteered at The Lutheran Mission until she became ill.

Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Davis and husband Gene of Severna Park, Md. and Bonnie Lennox and husband Ron of Frederick, Md.; three step-grandchildren, Valerie Dailey, Laura Lennox, and Ronnie Lennox; three brothers, Elmer Willey and Edgar Willey, both of Cambridge and Medford Willey, Jr. of Elliott Island, Maryland, five step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was her sister, Louise Shockley; two brothers, Melvin Willey and John A. Willey and two half-brothers Leon Willey and Earl Willey.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, August 28th from 6-9 p.m. at the Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, Cambridge, Maryland. Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 29th at 1:00 p.m. where family will receive friends one hour prior. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Mary Ann Farnell and Rev. Randall Blackman. Interment will follow at the Bucktown United Methodist Church Cemetery.
