Celebration of Life

Moira Fraser Huff of Easton, MD went home to the Lord on Sunday April 12, 2026 at the Residence of Eden Green. She was 92 years old.

Moira Fraser Huff was born in Leith, Scotland on October 26, 1933, to the late James Clark Fraser and his wife Annie Maria Nelson Fraser. She was the youngest of three daughters.

She grew up during wartime with strict food rationings and had to keep her gas mask with her at all times. When the sirens sounded, everyone went to the bomb shelters (which they did frequently). During the bombings, they were sending the children to Canada. The older two daughters could not go, so her Mother decided not to send anyone. The ship was hit by a German U2 boat where the children died. Her Mother said it was a good thing the older two sisters could not go or all three daughters would have been on that ship.

She attended Leith Links School, then graduated from David Kilpatrick High School. After graduating, she then went to work at H.J. Heinz as a clerkess.

She met Leon Dean Huff from Centreville, MD while he was in the Air Force stationed in England. They married on June 27, 1953 in Scotland, then resided in England. Following his release from the service, she then boarded the ship the “Queen Mary” to New York, then onto the family farm in Centreville, MD. In 1954, they moved to Easton, MD where her husband took a job with the C&P telephone company. She became a U.S. citizen of which she was immensely proud. Over the years she held various jobs, but being a Mother came first. They had three children (2 sons and 1 daughter). When asked how to pronounce her name, she would tell you to rhyme “Moi” with joy.

She was the longest active Charter member of the Presbyterian Church of Easton, MD where she had been a Sunday School teacher and a Greeter. She was a member of the Ladies Church Group. She was a Charter member of the Carroll’s Addition Homemaker Club. She was an active member of the Talbot Post #70 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary where she held various positions, including that of President and Treasurer. She was Poppy Chairman when Mayor Henry Purdue of Easton, MD designated May as Poppy month, and May 20th as Poppy Day in Honor of the war dead.

She was a 1971 Founding Charter member of the St. Andrews Society of the Eastern Shore where she served on various committees. She attended numerous times the Celebration of Robert Burns’s Birthday in Annapolis, MD. She attended yearly (up until recently) the Scottish Games in Fair Hill, MD where she has also worked at a booth. She even attended the Scottish Games in Grandfather Mountain, NC. She has walked in the Dickens’s Parade held in Easton, MD on numerous occasions.

For many years, she volunteered for the Waterfowl Festival. She was the first one to be Mrs. Pockets for the festival of Trees which she did for 15 years. She had been a Brownie Leader Jr. Girl Scout Leader, and a Den mother for the Cub Scouts. She participated in the show “Habitat for Follies” several times which benefited the Habitat for Humanity of Talbot County. She was a captain of a volleyball team at the Y.M.C.A. which did very well. When she was in her 60’s, she did a 10-mile bicycle ride several times to raise money for the mentally challenged. She had been involved in many Community activities, volunteering her time.

She loved to travel and flew frequently to Scotland, visiting her Homeland and to California to visit her two sisters (now deceased). She flew frequently to visit her sons when they were in the Service. She enjoyed cruising and had taken her Granddaughter numerous times and the entire family once. On one cruise, she received a note stating she was the best and most frequent dancer on The Galaxy. The note then asked her if she could please stay on board one more time. People often referred to her when they saw her as “The Dancer”. She had swum several times with the dolphins, ridden an elephant and a camel. She enjoyed learning and attended numerous educational seminars. She loved fashion and was always elegantly dressed. She loved to dance and was seen frequently at the concerts Easton offered. She had never met a dance floor she didn’t like. She loved anything to do with “Angels” and music boxes. She loved hearing and telling jokes and had a great sense of humor.

Generosity and Love flowed from her heart. She loved her flowerbeds and the birds that frequented her bird feeders. She was always giving flowers from her flowerbed to her family and friends.

Most of all, she loved being around her family and being active in their lives. On numerous occasions, she had taken her three grandchildren and walked the Bay Bridge. She had always made Holidays and Birthdays so special using linen tablecloths, linen napkins, china, crystal, lit candles, elegant meals, and special desserts.

She loved life and led a full enriched life living by her motto. “Live every moment, laugh every day, and love beyond words”. She actively participated in life living it with zest. Friends and family will always remember her crystal blue eyes, her smile, fun loving personality, her vivaciousness, and her readiness to tell a joke or two.

She is survived by her daughter, Moira Ann Huff Morris (Buck), of Centreville, MD, grandchildren (whom she raised one of them who is deceased also), great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She lost her husband, Leon Dean Huff Sr. of 45 years in 1998. She lived in their marital life home until moving to Eden Green in 2020. She is also preceded in death by her parents of Scotland, her two sons, Leon Dean Huff Jr. of Germantown, MD, James Ivan Huff of Cambridge, MD, and both her older sisters, May Fraser Corey, and Winifred Fraser, both of California.

Memorial Services will be held at The Presbyterian Church, 617 North Washington St. Easton, MD on Sat. May 9th at 1pm. Scotland’s loss of her was our gain. You can take the lass out of Scotland, but you couldn’t take Scotland out of the lass.

Cheerio!
