Morgan Knight Bennett, Jr., 90, of Choptank passed away Monday morning, May 2, 2022 at Mallard Bay Care Center, Cambridge.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 23, 1931, he was a son of the late Emma Jarrell Bennett and Morgan K. Bennett, Sr.

Morgan attended the local schools and graduated from Preston High School with the class of 1949.  He then joined the U.S. Army in 1950 and served his country during the Korean War with the 82nd Airborne Division.  He was honorably discharged as Corporal in 1953.  

Before retiring in 1990 Morgan made a living as a fur dealer.  His passion was the Black Muskrat, he would go to any length to buy every one he could get his hands on. This was a passion of his that paid off.  He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting and trapping.  Morgan did a lot of traveling and had visited all 50 states.  He loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by three children Greg S. Bennett (Norah) of Seaford, DE, Morgan K. Bennett, III (Ann) of Preston, MD and Anne George (Harry) of Preston, MD; grandchildren Lauren Bennett, Harry George, III and Robert Bennett; great grandchildren Avery Thompson, Weston Bennett and Juliette Bennett; a brother James Bennett of Church Hill, MD and his beloved companion Geraldine Ward of Choptank. Survived and fondly remembered as well by his two long term employees Leslie Schunick and Wayne Startt. 

Preceded in his death besides his parents was a sister Evelyn Storey.

A private burial will be held at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Morgan’s name can be sent to the National Outdoors Show Foundation, P.O. Box 42, Cambridge, MD 21613.
