Patsy Ann Monaco Foster Simms, 91, of East New Market, MD passed away on March 11, 2021 at her home.

Born on March 27, 1929 in Washington, D.C., Patsy was the daughter of the late Patsy Monaco and Ann Carniello Monaco. She attended school in Washington, D.C. Patsy was married to William P. Foster for 24 years and was gifted with 8 loving children.

Throughout her 91 years Patsy lived in several places including North Africa, Hyattsville, MD, Cobb Island, Md, Sarasota, FL and then later made her permanent residence in Dorchester County, MD in the 70’s. Patsy enjoyed caring for others and became a Nurses Aid in the 1940’s with George Washington University Hospital. Upon moving to Dorchester County she worked at Airpax but her desire to continue to help others inspired her to open Simms Home Care which was an assisted living home for the elderly. Patsy formally retired in 2003 but her passion to help support others was evident in the care she provided for her family and friends.

On June 28, 1980 Patsy married Herman J. Simms. This marriage expanded her family by 7 more loving children. They shared times together for 33 years until he passed away October 17, 2006.

She was a member of the loving and devoted Countryside Christian Church family for many years, located in Cambridge, MD. Her church family was always so good to her over the years and she loved them dearly.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, Christian Music, painting, drawing, crocheting and reading.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Patsy and Ann Monaco; 3 brothers, John F. Monaco, Joseph S. Monaco and Anthony L. Monaco; sister Cecelia Garcia; spouses William Foster and Herman Simms; grandson William A. Foster, Jr., granddaughter Melony Foster; grandsons Kevin A Foster and John Peterson, Jr.; great-granddaughters Alexandra Norris  and Adeline Heisserman; step-son Perry J. Simms.

Patsy is survived by 8 children, Margaret Norris (James) of Huntington, MD, William Foster (Joy) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Patsy Foster of Cambridge, MD, John J. Foster Sr. (Janet ) of La Plata, MD, Paulette Cheesman (Gene) of Hurlock, MD, Anthony Foster (Connie) of Port Tobacco, MD, Antoinette Peterson (John) of Virginia, Joseph Foster (Tammy) of Alexandria, VA.

Also surviving are 7 step children from Herman’s previous marriage to Mary Ellen Simms (deceased) , Ann Cox of S.C., Mary Johnson of Indian Head, MD, Robert Simms of Waldorf, MD, George Simms of Florida, Cecelia Simms of North Beach, MD, Nancy Zellioux of Hughsville, MD and Daniel Simms of California.

In addition, there are 33 grandchildren many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Last but not least, her dear and devoted beloved friends Bonnie Newcomb, Amanda Henry, Sally Bennett and Steve and Holly Tull.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 12:00 noon till 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at Countryside Christian Church on Austin Road, Route 50 East, Cambridge, MD.  Face masks will be required.

Officiating will be Pastor Johnny Herbst. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge, MD

Pallbearers will be David Foster, Anthony Foster, Jr., Christopher Foster, John Norris, Joshua Peterson and Stephen Mingolello.

Since 2010 she has been blessed to live in an apartment next to her loving grandson, Joseph Foster and his wife Ryan and great-grandchildren Mackenzie and Jonathan Foster. Her gratitude is beyond measure for their love and care through the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings in Patsy’s name may be made to Coastal Hospice, Countryside Christian Church or Countryside Christian School.
