Paul William Wolfert

Paul William Wolfert, born on March 16, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, departed this life on July 9, 2025, in Cambridge, Maryland. He was a dedicated police officer in the City of Philadelphia, serving with honor for 20 years. Paul exemplified professionalism and community spirit throughout his long career. In the 1980s, he took on the role of supervisor in security at the Easton Hospital, showcasing his commitment to both public service and safety. Additionally, Paul contributed to the community as a census taker, ensuring that every voice was counted.

In his personal life, Paul was devoted to his family, having married the love of his life, Evelyn, on December 17, 1949. Together they shared a rich and fulfilling life. Following Evelyn's passing on July 14, 2022, Paul continued to cherish the memories of their life together.

While raising his family, his interests outside of work included serving as a Boy Scout Troop 226 Scoutmaster and with Evelyn, helped instill the values of responsibility and leadership in the youth fellowship community of their church.

Paul had a great passion for maritime activities, especially on the Chesapeake Bay, sailing out of Cambridge and in his latter years, volunteering on the Skipjack Nathan of Dorchester. He found great joy in preserving the region's maritime heritage where he enjoyed spending time and enriching his knowledge of wooden boat building at the Ruark Boat Builders.

A proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Paul found camaraderie and purpose among fellow officers dedicated to serving the community. He had a vibrant social life and, during his leisure time, loved playing bridge with friends in Cambridge and Easton, further enriching his connection to the community.

Paul is survived by his children, sons Wesley and Richard and daughter Diane Overwise along with her husband, David. He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren and great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to family. In his latter years, he developed a special friendship with caregiver Karen Sampson who was the source for much comfort and companionship.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Caroline S. Schwartzkopf Wolfert and Albert W. Wolfert, as well as his beloved wife, Evelyn, grandson Karl and his six siblings. Paul William Wolfert will be remembered fondly for his commitment to service, deep love for his family and vibrant spirit that touched many lives.
