Penny A. Mills, 61, of Cambridge, Maryland passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional in Salisbury.
Born on November 28, 1960 in Cambridge, she was the daughter of Virginia Foxwell Smullen and the late Vernon Shriver Mills, Sr.
Penny was employed by Dorchester Carpets as office manager until they closed. Afterward she cleaned homes until her health began to fail.
She was known to be a very caring person and loved spending time with her family. There was a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. She loved them beyond words. When Penny wasn’t devoting her time to her family she enjoyed music and concerts, sunbathing, home décor, painting projects, working in her garden and taking care of her birds, Buddy and Baby and her cat, Sweetie. Penny also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities and events, collecting pictures of her family and she enjoyed perusing all the local newspapers in search of clippings featuring any of her grandchildren and other loved ones. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Surviving Penny is her beloved mother Virginia; daughter Shannan Middleton (Chris Bloodsworth) of Cambridge; son Thomas “Tommy” Middleton, III (Heather Meekins) of Trappe; grandchildren Carley Middleton (Her “Special Angel”), Crimzen Bloodsworth, Logan Middleton, Taylor Middleton, Calisse Bloodsworth, Talan Middleton, Sofia Middleton and Raine Middleton; brothers Vernon Mills, Jr. and Scott Mills (Trish); Godchildren Tiffany Tieder and Bryan Cook and numerous good friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins-including a very special cousin, Kathy Grow.
Preceding her in death besides her father and her “Pop” was her life-long companion and father of her children Thomas “Tommy” Middleton, II (aka Melbo) and far too many lifelong friends, also her beloved pets, Cinna and Bo.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022 beginning 1:00 p.m. at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge with Pastor Steve Bloodsworth officiating. A visitation with family will be held an hour prior to the service.
