Richard Harold Ingraham, 76 years old of Madison Bay, Maryland (formerly Grafton, NY) passed away peacefully on Friday August 29th.
He was born in Hoosick, NY where he spent his childhood. He briefly attended college in Montana where he fell in love with the state and talked about it until his last moments. He met the love of his life Alison while doing tree service at Mount Snow and spent the majority of his career at Berlin High School as an aide and coached Cross Country, Wrestling and girls basketball.
He leaves behind his three children Aaron Ingraham (Rebecca Ingraham), Rory Ingraham and Abby Nero (Christopher Nero), his grandchildren Madison, Lillian and Josephine Ingraham, his brother Steven Ingraham and Sister Linda Valentine as well as many extended family and great friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Alison Scudder Ingraham, whom he has outwardly longed to see “when his time comes”. He is also predeceased by both of his parents, his sister Marie Cluett and his mother and father in law Freeman and Beverly Scudder. His family takes solace in knowing he will finally be reunited with his wife Alison.
He was many things to many people. A strong, but loving Dad to his three children, a brother, a friend, a coach, and a prominent figure to many students during his time working at Berlin High School. One of his greatest joys in his life was the impact he was able to make in the lives of the students he worked with and the athletes that he coached. He has shared those memories with anyone who would listen for years after his retirement.
He was a jack of all trades, and mastered new hobby’s throughout his life. He loved the outdoors and spent many years hunting and fishing. He could build anything and did throughout the years. From the home where he raised his family, handmade archery bows, guns, and bamboo fly rods, all the way to beautifully crafted ukulele’s which he then of course taught himself to play. He loved to draw and paint and he took passion in that especially within the last few years.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but the love, life lessons and legacy he leaves behind will live on forever. A celebration of life will be held in Grafton, NY. More details to follow.
