Russell Edward Pickett

Russell E. Pickett, 36, of Cambridge, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.

Born on May 28, 1987 at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge, he was the son of John A. Pickett, Sr. and Vickie Lynn McCabe Pickett.

Russell was employed with the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, as an engineer in maintenance at the time of his death.  He took great pride in making sure everything was in working order and passed inspections.  He also worked at Best Buy Supply/Ruark Builders prior to going to work at the Hyatt.

In Russell’s younger years he was involved in little league baseball from the age of 4 and continued until he was 16 years old.  He also played on ice hockey teams and any water sports he could find, such as boating and water skiing.  He was an avid Ravens, Orioles and Capitals fan.   In his spare time he liked to do some skateboarding and was a big gamer with video games.  He wouldn’t admit it, but he loved cats.  Russell loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and his friends.  He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving him is his parents John and Vickie; daughter Evelyn Ireland Pickett (Jeremiahlevi); grandson Jeremiahlevi Russell Glover, Jr.; mother-in-law Lori Lynn Ruark; mother of his daughter Ashley Nicole Booze and numerous friends.

Preceding him in death was a brother John Allen Pickett, Jr.; maternal grandparents Janette and Courtland McCabe; paternal grandparents Joyce and John (Jack) Pickett.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 beginning 1pm at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, Cambridge with Joe Turner officiating.   A viewing will be held an hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow the service at Dorchester Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be John Larimer, Josh Turner, Adam Ruark, Aaron Ruark, Jake Insley and Matt Hurd.
