Sandra Lee Travis

Sandra Lee Travis, known affectionately as Sandy, was born on May 18, 1950, in Maryland. She departed this life on November 7, 2025, at the Mallard Bay Care Center and Rehab in Cambridge, Maryland, leaving behind a legacy of love, beauty, and family devotion.

Sandy was a devoted mother and grandmother, cherishing each moment spent with her family, especially during the years before illness took her away from them. She is survived by her loving son, Martin Travis, and his fiancée, Evelyn; her grandson, Cory Travis; her granddaughter, Jessica Travis; and several great-grandchildren who will always remember her warmth and kindness.

Her siblings, sister Liz Bloodsworth and her brothers Steve and Doug Abbott, will carry forward the precious memories they shared with her—the laughter, the support, and the love that bound them together. Sandy's spirit will continue to resonate in their hearts and the hearts of all who knew her.

On June 1, 1968, Sandy married Leroy A. Travis. Mr. Travis passed away on August 2, 2017.

Sandy was not only a dedicated family member but also a beloved co-worker, known for her time spent as a crab picker on the island. She was cherished by her co-workers for her vibrant personality and the beauty she found in the simple things that others often overlooked. Her colleagues remember her fondly, and the impact she made in their lives will not be forgotten.

A true artisan at heart, Sandy had a passion for collecting sea glass from the shore, which sparked her creativity in making beautiful crafts. Her hands, skilled in transforming natural treasures into art, created heirlooms that her family will surely cherish for generations to come. She found deep joy in the sport of fishing, weaving a connection to nature that further defined her joyful essence.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Abbott and Jean Dunn Abbott; her husband Leroy Albert Travis and brothers, Wayne and Gene Abbott. They welcome her into their embrace, and no doubt, they will share in joy and laughter once again.

As we celebrate Sandy’s life, we honor the beauty she brought into our world—through her art, her laughter, her devotion to family, and her ability to see the world through a lens of love. Her memory will endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her, reminding us all to treasure the moments we have, and to find beauty in the everyday.

Sandy will be laid to rest by her beloved husband Leroy, at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, Maryland at a later date.
