Sara Elizabeth "Betty" Marine, 90, of Cambridge passed away peacefully Friday, March 31, 2017 at Mallard Bay Care Center, Cambridge.

Born in East New Market September 2, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Katherine Clifton and William "Bill" Moore. She attended the local schools and graduated from East New Market High School with the Class of 1945. Betty married Alton "Al" Marine on June 10, 1947, he passed away March 19, 2003.

As a young woman Betty had worked in the tomato factories. Afterwards she was a seamstress in the local shirt factories including Cambridge Shirt Company, Secretary Shirt and Rob Roy. For a number of years she worked at Airpax but mostly was a devoted housewife to her husband and family.

Betty enjoyed embroidering, playing cards and being with her family. She also liked helping her husband when he had the produce stand on Rt. 50. Betty had attended Grace Church, Antioch United Methodist Church and the Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving her is a daughter Connie Travis and husband Robert; sisters Emily Collins and Ann Richardson; grandchildren David Travis, Monica King and husband Jimmy; great-grandchildren Brittney Elzey, Kathy King, Art King; great-great-grandchild Aden Melvin along with nieces, nephews and friends.

A viewing will be held Thursday, April 6, 2017 from noon till 1:00 pm at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge with funeral services following at 1:00 pm. Officiating will be Pastor Richard Prahl. Interment will follow at Brookview Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Art King, Randy Marine, Hobart Price, Roger Morris, Richard Thurman and Marty Redington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clark Simms, Justin Aaron and Ritchie Thurman.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations in memory of Betty to be made to Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., 308 High St., Cambridge, MD 21613 to help defray funeral costs.
