Thelma Marine

Thelma L. Marine, 95, of Cambridge, Maryland passed away on Sunday evening, August 12, 2018 at Mallard Bay Care Center, Cambridge.

Born in Cambridge, Maryland on November 10, 1922 she was the daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Agnes Wheatley Henry.

On November 29, 1940 Thelma married William E. “Bill” Marine and together raised three daughters.  Mr. Marine died on November 13, 2005.

Thelma was employed with the Board of Education and worked at the NDHS cafeteria until her retirement.  All the students loved Mrs. Marine and knew they could count on her smiling as they went through the cafeteria line.

She was a lifetime member of the Sunnyside Christian Missionary Alliance Church and was very active in the church.  Her hobbies were cooking and sewing, but most of all, spending time with her family who she adored.

Surviving Thelma are her three daughters Bonnie L. Rogers (Hobart) of East New Market, Karen L. Fowler (George) of Ocean City and Terri M. Rosta of Cambridge; grandchildren Billy Abey, Bart Rogers, Mandi Rogers and Robert Rosta; great grandchildren Trey Abey, Buck Rogers, Jesse Rogers, Landon Abey , Lane Abey and Zoe Rosta; four great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 beginning 12:00 p.m. at Sunnyside Christian Missionary Alliance Church, East New Market with Pastor Mark Brumley officiating.  Burial will follow at the East New Market Cemetery.

A viewing and visitation with family will be held at the church from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Abey, Robert Rosta, Bart Rogers, Trey Abey, Hobart Rogers, Chris Wilson and Danny Muffoletto.  Honorary pallbearers will be George Fowler, Terry Dorr, George Brittingham and Bobby Harding.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Thelma’s name can be sent to Sunnyside Christian Missionary Alliance Church, P.O. Box 9, Secretary, MD 21664.
