Walter William Beletsky, 97, of Secretary, Maryland passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013 at his home.
Born January 14, 1916 in Brooklyn, New York he was the son of William Beletsky and Zenia Minuk Beletsky. He moved to Bethany, Connecticut when he was 11 years old. His father bought and operated the Hillside Dairy Farm where Walter worked. Walter graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven, CT in 1934. He attended New Haven College, served in the Army Air Corp, worked for Buray Motors as a salesman and auto mechanic. Walter drove Bethany school bus for several years. He built and operated the Bethany Garage in 1947 and retired at the age of 86 in 2002. Walter was the accordion player in the Zembrusky Band playing for weddings and social affairs. Walter was a master Mason and a member of Pyramid Shriners for over 50 years. He was an avid race car enthusiast. He built, owned and drove many sprint cars over the years including an Indy 500 race car.
Walter is survived by his wife Alice Ann Beletsky, his three sons: William with his wife Tina, Robert with his wife Alice, and Barry with his wife Denise; grandchildren Jennifer Rebert, Lori Wamstad, Matthew Beletsky, Lindsey Bennett, Nicole Beletsky, Anastasia Beletsky, and John Beletsky; great grandchildren: Emily Rebert, Paden Radunske, Evan Wamstad, Reid Wamstad, Maryalice Rebert, Lana Beletsky, Charlize Wamstad, Cambry Wamstad, and Jacob Beletsky.
The family is planning on honoring Walter at the Saturday, January 11th Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Secretary, MD and a burial service in Connecticut in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Walter Beletsky’s name to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, PO BOX 279 Secretary, MD 21664
