Wilmer C. “Junior” Morgan, Jr., 69, of Cambridge passed away peacefully Friday, July 7, 2017 at Mallard Bay Care Center, Cambridge after a lengthy illness.
Born in Waldorf, Maryland February 23, 1948, he was a son of the late Dorothy and Wilmer C. Morgan, Sr.
After attending the local schools, Junior worked the tobacco fields until the age of 21 when he decided to become a waterman. Together with his companion of over thirty years, Marie “Monnie” Dryden, they worked the local waters tonging for oysters in the winter and crabbing during the summer till his health began to fail.
Junior enjoyed country music and loved to dance. He was an excellent pool player and spending time with his friends at the American Legion Post #91 was one of his favorite past times. A gentle passionate man, he cared for all living creatures and was always fond of pets especially his dogs Star and Snowball.
Surviving besides his companion Monnie are his stepchildren Ann Aranda and husband Salomon, Raymond Dryden, Rose Dryden, Agnes Dominquez and husband Jorge, Wayne Dryden and wife Kristy; siblings Eva Jones, Thomas “Tommy” W. Morgan, James “Jimmy” Morgan and wife Sharon, Dottie Tracy; twelve step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren; special nephews Scotty Murphy and Eddie Jones along with several other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held October 15, 2017 at the Cambridge Moose Lodge, 5446 Moose Lodge Rd Cambridge, MD 21613 at 3:30 p.m.
