About Us

Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., at 308 High Street in Cambridge, MD, was established in December, 2011, under the ownership of Gary R. Newcomb and Barbara Blake Collins. The funeral home has a long standing tradition of providing quality and dignified service to the Cambridge and Dorchester County community since as early as 1930 when people began to more frequently use funeral parlors for memorial services instead of the decedent's homes.

The funeral home is the oldest funeral service provider in the County that has maintained continuous service to the community at its present and existing location since its inception as a funeral home more than 80 years ago.

Beginning as a family run business known as the LeCompte Funeral Home, the LeCompte family sold the funeral home to Raymond J. Curran and wife, Virginia, in 1974, where it became known as the Curran Funeral Home. In 1985, their daughter, Colleen Curran-Bromwell, joined the family business as a Maryland licensed mortician. In 2002, ownership of the business was transferred to Colleen, and the name of the funeral home was changed to the Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A.

In December of 2011, Colleen Curran-Bromwell sold the funeral home to Gary R. Newcomb and Barbara Blake Collins, and the home became known as the Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A. Both Mr. Newcomb and Ms. Collins are Maryland licensed morticians and funeral directors.

As lifelong residents of Dorchester County since birth and with long established roots in the local community, the owners of Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., are committed to provide superior and quality service to all families based on compassion and respect, and in a caring manner as they would expect their own family members to be cared for.

The funeral home has long been recognized as a leading funeral service provider on Maryland's Eastern Shore, and has a firm reputation of quality of care and service to families - a tradition the current owners are committed to continuing into the future.

Mr. Newcomb and Ms. Collins are available 24 hours a day to help you whenever you need assistance.
